It's been a busy Summer here at the O'Connor Academy!
After a well-deserved three week break, we were back to class again working hard. Lots of our students took part in three full workshop days, where focused on strength, flexibility, stamina and technique. Everybody worked extrememly hard!
(Looking slightly disheveled after a core workout!)
It's not all been hard work though...
We all had a fun day out together at the Huntington gala in August. The girls performed during the day for a big audience, including some of our new dancers from York. Some of the team performed again during the evening with the fantastic band, Gaelstrom. We all had a great time joining in with the ceili...We evening tried to master a Russian Square dance!
(A bit of warming up in the sunshine!)
We were thrilled to be part of the Freedom Festival 2015. Our dance display went down a storm! Here are some pictures of the day.
(Waiting to perform.)
(The Stweets of May.)
..... and it doesnt stop there!
A few of our dancers performed at a charity evening for the stroke and trauma unit in Hull. It was a wonderful evening with a wide array of talents on display. Our dancers showed great talent in both Irish and Indian dancing! Here you can see Charlotte, Holly, Eva and Anna.
Our lovely little Grace recently took time out of her day to perform for some residents in a local care home. Apparently they all loved the dancing. We hope to return soon with a little group of dancers... Well done Grace. Here she is looking very proud of herself.
Last but not least....
A HUGE well done to beautiful Charlotte, who represented the O'Connor Academy at the British Nationals this Summer. She also acheived AMAZING GCSE results. We all wish her luck as she starts her A-Levels this September.
...And that's a wrap! Here's to a fantastic new term. Thanks everyone!
